Tooth extraction may be indicated for a variety of reasons including one or more of the following: decayed and broken down beyond the point where it can be restored, causing pain, infected or abscessed. Extractions may also be indicated for orthodontic reasons including to facilitate eruption of permanent teeth and/or overcrowding. We complete extractions of both primary and select permanent teeth. When appropriate, referral to an oral surgeon for extractions may be recommended. Extractions of severely broken-down permanent teeth or impacted wisdom teeth would be examples where referral to an oral surgeon would be beneficial.
We understand that tooth extractions can be a scary appointment for children and patients of all ages. We do everything we can to make the appointment as easy and painless as possible.
